Starting a Doula Business

I sit here, at the end of the night while my husband gets my 2 and 4 year old to bed, and I work on this website, reflecting on my journey thus far. For the past 5 years, I have been a stay at home mom and am ready to find something of my own. With my love of birth, becoming a doula felt like a great new venture. I made my final decision to become a doula early this year and I immediately signed up for a DONA training that was about 4 months out. I was so excited to begin! I searched for all the doula podcasts I could find, ordered the required reading, and filled my mind with information. Then COVID hit. Life slowed down and things changed, to say the least. My doula bug simmered as I adjusted to the changes.

My May local training was canceled, but luckily I found another in June in San Diego! After completing training, my excitement amped up a bit more but I figured I would have to take things slowly with so many COVID restrictions still affecting our lives and our hospitals. BUT, a stroke of luck came my way. I joined a local birth professionals Facebook group and that same day found a client in need of support! I was fortunate and honored to attend my first birth at the beginning of July.

That’s all it took, the bug hit hard again and next thing I know I am filing a business name and starting a website! I am so excited to support more families in their births, but pretty nervous to jump into the business side of doula work. I am ready for the challenge though and it has been fulfilling to have a goal for myself! If you have made it this far, I want to thank you for taking the time to check out my website and getting to know me a little more. I hope we get a chance to speak about any questions you may have!
