World Doula Week 2022

Today is the last day of World Doula Week, and what a week it was! I attended a record 3 births this week! One as a doula, and 2 as a birth assistant. I am a bit sleep deprived, but it was very fun and a true joy to watch 3 babies enter in to the world and see 3 sets of couples become parents! I loved comforting and empowering these moms and holding space for them to birth their sweet babies.

Given the age of my kiddos and life circumstances, I don’t often support more than one or two births a month. Sometimes, long stretches between births or prenatal appointments can have me feeling a bit of imposter syndrome…can I really call myself a doula and birth worker?! So, a full week like this one, and on World Doula Week no less, revitalizes my confidence in calling this my career!

Thank you to all the families who welcome me into your sacred space, and to my fellow birth workers who work along side me, mentor me, and trust my abilities to do this work!
